A warm highland welcome awaits you at Sharvedda
Sharvedda B&B has been welcoming guests to this unique area of Scotland for more than 30 years. We are located a few miles off the popular North Coast 500 route at Strathy Point, which extends 3 miles out into the Pentland Firth and affords spectacular views along the coast to the beautiful Orkney Islands.
The name 'Sharvedda' originates from the Norse word for 'small fishing place beside the sea' and reflects the traditional salmon fishing heritage at Strathy Point. Wild Atlantic Salmon, returning to Scotland from Iceland and Greenland, were fished off Strathy Point for over 200 years until recently when the fishing station was closed.
Despite the Salmon fishing disappearing other traditional ways of life such as crofting and peat-cutting still survive, with sheep and Highland cattle regularly wandering the Strathy Point road on the 'common grazing' crofting land.

How to find us
Some car sat-navs don't take guests to our door, so the following directions may be helpful!
Turn off from the A836 main north coast road onto the Strathy Point road. Sharvedda B&B is sign-posted at this junction on a brown sign.
Travel up the single-track Strathy Point road for
approximately 2 miles (take care as there are often sheep and Highland cows on the road) until you see a sign on the right-hand side of the road pointing left up towards 'Aultivullin' (our B&B is immediately on your left).
Turn left up this small road and left again into the entrance to Sharvedda B&B (over a small cattle grid).
If you have any issues finding us don't hesitate to get in touch using the contact details at the bottom of the page.
Free electric car-charging points
We also have two electric car-charging points (type 2 sockets), as shown in the photo, for guests to use to charge their cars (for free) overnight. One is a dedicated Tesla charging point and the other can be used by any other type of electric car.
