    About Sharvedda

    The name Sharvedda comes from the Norse for small fishing place beside the sea.

    Sharvedda is the perfect base for visiting the Orkney Island's and you will discover for yourself the magic of Sutherland with it's spectacular scenery,dramatic coastline and miles of deserted sandy beaches.

    Marvel at the sunset over Strathy Point. search for the rare Primula scotica and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful and remote area.

    Our spacious lounge has panoramic views over Strathy Bay where seals,dolphins,porpoises and whales are regular visitors or browse through a wide selection of maps,books and information on the surrounding area to help plan the next day's activities.

    Sharvedda offers one double and twin bedroom en-suite and a twin room with private bathroom across the corridor. All rooms are on the ground floor and finished to a high standard are central heated and can be adjusted to your own requirements. Generous hospitality trays and complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, radio alarm clock and electric blanket are provided.

    There is ample off-road parking and a well maintained garden we can also provide lockable storage space for bikes and other sporting equipement.

    This is a non-smokers haven as it is totally non-smoking and we are unable to allow any pets.

    Meals are served in the conservatory with outstanding views of Dunnet Head and the Orkney Islands. Our tempting breakfast menu offers porridge, cereals, a full Scottish Breakfast or local specialities such as smoked Scrabster haddock with poached egg all with tea, coffee and bread/toast and homemade marmalade, fruit preserves and honey. Evening meals can be provided if booked in advance and please advise if any special dietary requirements. We aim to use top quality local produce whenever possible. Evening meal is usually served 6.30-7.00pm.
    Sharvedda does not have a alcohol license but guests are welcome to bring their own wine.
